Kinrei Gyosho won the Akashi Award in the Kanji Category at the Morisawa Type Design Competition 2014 (it was then called Kitahara Gyosho). Its distinctive design is modeled on the real brushwork by a Japanese calligrapher. Keeping the balance of the original drawings, its vigorous letterforms emulate the hand movements, and the strokes show such effects as ink blurring. Every character is carefully designed to look natural, as if drawn by hand, in any combinations.
