The traditional “Shuei” typeface was developed from the printing typeface inherited from Shueisha, the predecessors of Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. “Shuei Kaku Gothic Gold” is an orthodox Gothic typeface designed to match “Shuei Ming-cho.” Kana characters designed larger and similar to handwritten shapes give an intimate feel, while Kanji characters have a similar carefree skeleton like that of “Shuei Ming-cho.” For short texts and headlines where Gothic typefaces are used, this font exerts a casual presence. There are two weight variations of this typeface that combine well with Ming-cho L/B.
