Based on the works of Ouyang Xun, the famous calligrapher of China’s Tang Dynasty, “Otai Kaisho” is a typeface that revives the graceful appearance of his writing. While other Kaisho (block-style) fonts based on print typefaces lack expressiveness due to too much uniformity of size among the characters, this font is finished more freely, carefully respecting each character’s distinctive features and size. The form of each character and its white spaces resonate with one another to create beautiful, smart, and classy typesettings.
