"Rubberblade" won the Akashi award in the Morisawa Type Design Competition 2012, Latin Category, and was made into a product with the new addition of Ultra Italic (at the time of the award, the typeface name was "Jara"). The lines of this typeface are pushed to the limit of recognition, and the design is overflowing with originality. From the expression of this typeface, whose intention was "a fusion of black letters and grotesque typefaces," one can feel a sense of wonder, and from the movement of the lines which are full of vitality, its physicality stands out. Significant characteristics of this typeface include alternate letter design variations and ligatures.
